A bridge takes you across a difficult passage and two of the most difficult in the small fashion business are:  moving from a micro business (just you) to a small business (you and 2-20 others) and/or staying just you and moving to making a profit.  Neither of these are possible without some serious technology scaled for your operation; so it's important to automate the pattern design tasks as intuitively as possible. 

When selecting a CAD program, there are programs out there that make standard patterns with your measurments but you get little choice of designs. Then there are the large costly programs that are scaled in size and learning to large companies like Gap -- with these profit making for new businesses will stay in the distant future. The program mirrors standard flat pattern textbooks which makes it quite intuitive for those who have had a basic flat pattern course at any of the fashion schools in the US.  You can slash and spread patterns to create any design; create flats, make alterations, grade for size, layout a marker, store patterns in a library of accounts or customers, bring pattern diagrams from scanned or digitized images and email your patterns -- all on your laptop!  Hard to beat that.

This CAD course may also be presented for degree or non-credit coursework within a higher education design program.  In addition to making it possible for students to use CAD at home while in school, it offers an inexpensive and efficient way to start a business, a popular option for graduates now.  Sandra Ericson teaches the course and is qualified to teach in accredited programs.  A Curriculum Committee outline is available upon request.
