Threads Magazine Articles

This year I have been privileged to write for Threads Magazine, America's premier fine sewing and design publication.  The editors and staff are exceptionally gifted and I thank them for the opportunity to contribute.  The following articles can be read by clicking on the links:

Vionnet:  Master Geometrician -- February/March 2010, A complete look at the pattern design and couture techniques of the master of 20th Century couture in Paris, Madeleine Vionnet.  Covers her principles and practices which she taught to many of the most famous couturiers who came after her during the Golden Age of Couture. Vionnet in Miniature -- An online extra, featuring more photos of the Vionnet Identique Exhibition held at the October, 2009 national conference in Chicago of the Association of Sewing and Design Professionals.  I coordinated the production of the garments by ASDP members and processed the patterns.  Each garment is done in half-scale and represents a model from the book, Madeleine Vionnet by Betty Kirke.

Also in the current issue (January 2010) is Half-Scale Reprisal by Judith Neukam, a Threads Editor, which is the main article on the exhibition in Chicago. We will link it here as soon as it is available to be linked.

Find Your Best Silhouette -- January 7th, 2009, About understanding and applying the principles of proportion to your clothing and your body.
