This pattern has a very unusual cut yet it yields a coat that is simple and elegant. The coat employs bias magic to create a one-pattern-piece coat that forms a deeply angled side front seam and spiral seamed sleeves. The coat, which may be modified to have a straight (grey sample) or swing back (striped sample), has only two seams in the body of the coat, the single spiral seam and a standard center back seam. A collar is optional, as is a variety of closures, pockets, edge finishes, a lining and/or other design details. A CF/neck facing is included. The design adapts well to stripes, light reflective or napped fabrics in order to emphasize the bias direction. Depending on size, there will usually be enough fabric after cutting for a matching straight skirt, pant or blouse. The pattern fits loosely with ample ease and is graded in small, medium and large with the garment measurements printed on the pattern.
Due to the bias cut, this pattern requires intermediate to advanced sewing skills -- not for beginners.
